Hi. (1) I\'d like to know if there are any documented cases whereby there was HIV infected blood on a glass and someone got accidentally cut by the glass and got infected with HIV? What other diseases can be possibly spread by this? (2) What about knives? If someone gets cut by a knife with HIV blood on it will the person get HIV? Are there any documented cases of this happening? What other diseases can be possibly spread by this? (3) If lets say someone on the street accidentally fell down and is bleeding profusely, and i help the person and my hands are covered with his blood, will i get diseases from his blood (assuming that in case 1 i have an open wound on my hand, and case 2 i do not have open wound on my hand)? what are the chances of catching diseases from case 1 and 2? are there any documented cases of this incidents whereby the passerby got infected with diseases? Thank you very much for your reply.

On your first visit, you will receive your DSC appointment card. This card contains your
name, hospital registration number (HRN) and details of your next appointment. Please
bring along your card for your subsequent visits.
This will speed up registration and

Whenever you communicate with us after your first visit, please state your HRN and your

If you misplace your DSC card, you can obtain a duplicate at the clinic.

Your DSC Doctor
Our doctor will ask your medical history and conduct a thorough examination. Throughout your consultation, you are encouraged to discuss your condition with your doctor and ask any questions about your health.

Male patients will usually see a male nurse practitioner before they see the doctor. He is
trained to assess your condition and may order certain laboratory tests.

Investigations
After examining you, your doctor will decide on other laboratory tests or procedures you might need.

Diagnosis
After your examination and diagnostic laboratory tests, your doctor will discuss his/her
findings with you and explain any treatment that may be needed.

If you were referred by another doctor, a report of our findings will sent to him/her.

Counselling and Contact Tracing
At the DSC Clinic, we have a group of dedicated health advisors who will provide you with detailed information about your condition, clarify any doubts you have about your treatment and assist you in adopting a lifestyle that will reduce your chance of getting a STI.

Our health advisors will also seek your assistance in referring your partner to our clinic for STI screening. This is in line with our aim to control the spread of STIs in Singapore and to provide prompt treatment for your partner if he or she is infected.

Early detection and treatment of an infection can significantly prevent complications for both you and your partner.

Hospitalisation
If you need to be hospitalised, arrangements may be made for admitting you to the Communicable Disease Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Your DSC doctor will continue to see and treat you during your stay in the hospital.

Hospital charges incurred during your inpatient stay should be settled directly between you and the hospital. Payment details should be discussed at the time of admission.

You can be assured that your medical records will be kept confidential unless your permission is given to release them.
