About Us



The DSC Clinic is a public clinic operated by the Department of STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections) Control for the diagnosis, treatment and control of sexually transmitted infections (STI) in Singapore. The DSC clinic is funded by the Ministry of Health. This enables us to provide our services at a fee that is affordable to our patients.

We are committed to the practice of medicine compatible with the highest professional and ethical standards. This is our primary goal. We are also committed to provide cost-effective and expert management of STIs in a setting of intensive medical research and quality education.

Our services are provided by a team of professionals dedicated to the management of STIs. We have consultant STI specialists on our staff as well as physicians-in-training.

As a patient at DSC, you will be:
  
  • Provided with care delivered within ethical, legal, business and financial norms that protect you and your rights.
 
  • Provided with quality medical care, you will be:

    Treated with respect, dignity and compassion regardless of your gender, age, ethnicity, religion, nationality, social status, sexual orientation, physical or mental abilities.

    Attended to and cared for according to your needs, with the understanding that other patients may have more urgent needs.

    Provided with communication services like dialect or foreign language interpretation, where available.
 
  • Informed of the names of the healthcare team involved in your care.
 
  • Interviewed, examined and treated in privacy. Confidentiality of your medical records is protected, access is limited to the professionals involved in your care:

    DSC is a teaching clinic. If you prefer not to participate, please inform your doctor.
 
  • Informed of your diagnosis, treatment and expected results to facilitate your participation in the treatment decision and care process.
 
  • Informed about your right to refuse or discontinue recommended treatment.
 
  • Given the right to ask questions.
 
  • Protected from physical assault by visitors, or other patients and staff.
 
  • Protected from loss or theft of your personal possessions.
 
  • Given the right to appropriate assessment and management of pain.
 
  • Given the right to feedback, compliment or complain to the hospital.
 
 
To facilitate your care as a patient at DSC, you can help us by doing the following:
 
  • Provide complete, detailed and accurate information about your health, including present and past conditions, allergies, medications or dietary supplements, hospitalizations, healthcare regimens and any other health-related matters
  • Let us know if you are unable to understand what our staff tells you about your condition or treatment. 
  • Abide by the doctors’ or nurses’ prescribed treatment. You should inform us if you anticipate problems in following the prescribed treatment
     
  • Keep to your appointments. Otherwise, please inform our clinic.

  • Abide by all clinic’s rules and regulations:
     
    Treat all clinic staff, other patients and visitors with respect and courtesy.

    Respect the confidentiality and privacy of others.

    Be responsible for the safekeeping of your valuables and personal possessions during your clinic visit.

    Treat the clinic’s property and facilities with due care and responsibility.
