At DSC Clinic, your concerns and assurance are foremost on our minds. Right inside the clinic, beyond the glass doors, our service oriented staff accord you the right kind of privacy you want. A queue number is issued and you will be addressed by the number whilst in the clinic.
Your privacy is protected subtly by the educational display panels placed strategically between rows of seats to shield patients from enquiring eyes. Educational pamphlets keep patients engaged with new information thus assuaging any waiting anxiety. A call for your queue number at the next treatment point sounds before you know it.
At the DSC Clinic, patient information is guarded with the strictest confidentiality. The DSC Clinic pledges not to release any patient information even to your next of kin, family members or employers. Any request for your medical records by family, friends or employers will need your consent before information is released.
Registration
Our friendly patient service associates will be on hand to assist you in your registration process. Registration is done based on documents of proof of identity- NRIC, Work Permit, or Passport. Rest assured that your identity will remain confidential within the confines of DSC and access to patients’ personal data will not be given to the Ministry of Health or other healthcare institutions. An initial deposit of $30 and $15 will be collected upon registration, for new patients and follow- up patients, respectively. The deposit will be refunded accordingly, should the final bill be less than the paid.
You will receive an appointment card that contains your name, hospital registration number (HRN) and details of your next appointment. Whenever you communicate with us after your first visit, please state your HRN and name as it appears on your DSC card.
Nursing Care

Both male and female state- registered nurses are on hand to meet the modesty needs of male and female patients. Caring nurses treat patients with routine symptoms that do not require attention from the doctors. To minimize waiting time, male patients will be screened by male nurses before they consult the doctor. Female patients, on the other hand, will be seen by the doctor first as they require a more complex procedure of obtaining test samples. All patients are also routinely screened for the HIV virus. DSC offers both the HIV antibodies test and rapid tests.
You will certainly feel at ease under the care of gentle and experienced nursing hands. Besides collecting test samples and administering routine procedures, our nurses will also discuss with you the treatment and laboratory test charges before proceeding with them. The confidence inspired by qualified nursing care cannot be understated.
Male patients who are experiencing urethral discharge/ discomfort are to hold their urine for 4 hours before attending the DSC Clinic. This is to ensure that test samples collected yield accurate results.
Specialist Treatment by In- house Doctors
The DSC Clinic is staffed by a team of experienced specialist doctors, visiting consultants and medical officers. Besides completing their formal training, our doctors have also had years of hands-on practice in diagnosing, treating, managing and preventing sexually transmittedinfections. Our team of doctors are rostered to serve at the clinic and there is always a senior doctor around for advice in any clinic session. Rest assured that you will be provided with the highest professional care by our team of doctors throughout your visit at DSC Clinic.
In the consulting room, the doctor will interview you for your sexual and medical history and give you an examination if necessary. You are encouraged to discuss your condition with him/her and ask any questions about your health. All information provided will be keyed into the computerized system and kept with strictest confidentiality. If there is a need, further diagnostic tests will be ordered accordingly, to present you with an accurate report of your state of health. Results of diagnostic tests are normally ready two to three weeks from the date of test.
A Good Piece of Advice
Unique to the DSC Clinic, our Health Advisors are staff specially trained to explain your condition, treatment and follow-up management details to you. You will be assigned to meet a Health Advisor in the privacy of a comfortable room, where your sexual relationships will be explored so that any partner/s at risk of infections may be contacted for a health check.
At the DSC Clinic, at risk partners of patients are contacted either through patients’ referral or contact tracing with the assistance of Health Advisors.
In the first approach, patients personally inform their at risk partners to attend the clinic for a health check. In the latter, our Health Advisors assist to contact the partner/s. Our experienced Health Advisors will discuss with you some of the tried and tested methods of approaching your partners. Ultimately, the chosen approach will depend on your comfort level and preference.
Besides contact tracing, our Health Advisors will take time to explain to you on an individual basis, the nature of your particular infection, follow-up management details, and the lifestyle changes necessary to prevent transmission and re-infection. In line with the clinic’s stand on patient privacy, all information given will remain confidential.
Counsellor
Having an infection of a sexually transmitted nature can be a very distressing experience for some people. Support in the form of counseling by counsellors is at hand to comfort and steady distraught patients, who may need an empathetic listening ear, a cathartic release of emotions, or help with their social and sexual relationships.
Besides being counselled for emotional and psychological well- being, patients who present difficulties in settling their clinic bills, will also be referred to the counsellor for financial assessment and assistance.
Laboratory
DSC boasts an in-house laboratory fully equipped with state- of- the- art laboratory machines. We take pride in running most of our STI tests in-house. This helps to shorten lab result waiting time for patients as well as maintain the cost of tests at an affordable rate for patients. Our specially trained laboratory technicians process lab tests with precision and accuracy. Our commitment to meet stringent lab testing requirements have paved the way to our attainment of ISO 15189 Singapore Laboratory Accreditation Scheme in 2006.
Costs
After consultation, treatment and counselling, make your way to the billing counter to make your payment.
Our charges are subsidized and priced at an affordable rate.
Standard consultations with the doctor are charged at $15 and consultation with the nurse, at $5. Bills average about $80- $120 for the first visit and less than $50 for a follow-up visit. Payments may be made through cash, credit cards and NETS. Hepatitis B vaccinations may be paid through Medisave.
A Dose to Good Health
Your final stop will be at the Pharmacy. Being a subsidized clinic, medicine supplies are available at an affordable rate. Our Pharmacy technician dispenses medicine as well as application and dosage instructions, to ensure that you are equipped to continue self care at home and achieve quick recovery.
At the DSC Clinic, you receive more than just a dose of medicine. We send you off with a dose of instructions for continued care and our well wishes.
Women's Clinic
At level 2, a female counter service staff from the Women’s Clinic greets you with a reassuring smile. The private reception area is strictly out of bounds for male patients. Respecting gender sensitivities is the premium aspect of the Women’s Clinic.
Educational movies and reading materials ranging from educational display panels to medical information and leisure magazines help divert patient apprehension and soothe patients.

A queue number is issued and patients are addressed by the queue number to ensure confidentiality. Rest assured that your identity will remain confidential within the confines of DSC. Other Information
Medical Teaching
The DSC Clinic provides medical training to medical students and post graduate doctors. Therefore at times, there may be such students in the clinic undergoing training.
