Scabies
WHAT IS SCABIES?

- Scabies is a skin infestation by a mite called sarcoptes scabiei. This can be spread by close personal contact
- Patients may present with small reddish, itchy growths on the genitalia or with itchy rashes on other typical sites such as finger webs, wrists, elbows.
- The diagnosis is made by demonstration of the mites or its eggs from these skin lesions
- Treatment is by anti-scabies lotion, close contacts need to be treated as well
